The do's and dont's while inducting freshers into an organization

It is the sixth month of the year and many Information technology giants are busy in mass recruitments. They try to recruit most freshers in their organization for the simple reason that they can mold fresh clay better than the baked ones. As processes complete and when it is time for the freshers to join the office, the exact task for human resource managers begins. Inducting them into the organization includes teaching them the vision and mission of the organization, imparting soft skills training, refreshing their basics in computer programming languages and also training them in quality management, change management foundation, process management and also people management. While doing so, there are few do's and dont's that these organizations strictly follow. They are:

Do's
Freshers from colleges do not have any industry experience. They might not as well understand the business performance charts or even the organizational motto. Hence to keep the induction process simple and beneficial, they can be asked to introduce themselves and then be introduced to the organizational hierarchy, the core business, the development activity that is undertaken and also what is expected out of them. This will help them to understand where they stand and how prestigious they should feel to be associated with the group. Also they must be allowed to interact with their team right from the first day onwards so that they build a nice rapport before beginning to work

Dont's
While some HR managers like to be practical and talk extensively about the advantages of working with the organization like salary hike, on site opportunity etc. some like to introduce a bit of fun and frolic into the induction program by inviting talented freshers to perform on stage. Though these help freshers to relax a bit, this also sends a wrong message to them that work places are full of fun. The reality is when ever work demands full concentration and extended hours one has to give their one hundred percent and complete the activities on time. Another don't is related to discussing pay packages, appraisal meetings etc. during the induction program. These might be too much knowledge for them as they hardly understand these concepts.

Induction programme is a way to welcome freshers aboard. Rather than boring them with too much information, the HR managers must talk sense and make them feel proud of their choice.
