Levels of ITIL certification

ITIL is the widely accepted approach for IT service management all over the world. This framework is used in the organisations to plan and deliver Information Technology services to the business. It guides on how to use Information Technology resources for satisfying the business needs and for the growth of the business. ITIL qualification has got the modular approach framework and each qualification is for the different aspect of the best practices. Let us have a look at all the levels in detail.


1.    Foundation: This is the entry level which gives the candidates knowledge about the key terms, general concepts and terminology used in the ITIL life cycle. It is the first step towards which acts as an entry pass for the further stages.
2.    Intermediate: This acts as a bridge to go from the foundation to the expert of master level. It assesses the comprehension and application of the concepts of the candidates. It is the industry recognised level which has got more detailed concepts than the foundation stage.
3.    Expert: Once a candidate gets through the foundation, intermediate and the managing across the cycle levels, he gets the status of ‘expert’. It covers the stages of all the lifecycles. The candidates achieving this will get entry to the highest stage, ‘Master’.
4.    Master: This is the highest level that can be achieved. After achieving this, the candidates can apply the methods and techniques of ITIL in their organisations.
